(Not) an Answer

This audiovisual project with Amsterdam-based clarinetist and composer Jaime Peña started as a commission, but soon developed into a collaboration. It was premiered at Splendor Amsterdam on October 26th, 2024. Partially funded by AFK & het Cultuurfonds.

45 minutes of original music and arrangements by Jaime Peña, to which I designed and developed live visuals and DMX lights in TouchDesigner. It features a combination of generative images and heavy manipulation of footage taken by Jaime.

In words of Jaime: “Being human means forever grappling with the unknown, dealing with “existence” and its mysterious nature until we cease to exist. In order to avoid being pretentious or falling into hubris, rather than giving you a dogmatic opinion we’ve articulated our concert as a set of questions in musical form.”
