Multimedia performance, intervention of absolute-cinema short films. Live visuals, drums, electronics, DMX lights.

PARARSE is a multimedia performance with live music (drums and electroacustics) composed as an accompaniment to the projection of realtime, audio-reactive synthesis between Absolute Cinema films from the 1920’s and current images intercalated with ads. The piece was born as a representation of the increase in over-overstimulation and its link to economic growth experienced by our society in the last hundred years. These absolute-cinema movies are arranged in a suite structure with two parts: an exposition and a re-exposition of the same material. These movies we sonorize and intervene, with increasing density, both in music, electronic techniques, lightning, live camera feed and visuals, to reflect the eternal growth inherent in accelerationism. Besides the increasing interventions, growth is directly illustrated with a GDP graph with actual data from the last 100 years that is displayed throughout the piece.
PARARSE was premiered at MAF Málaga in June 2021 in its full 50min of length, and then shortened to 30min for a performance at Sounds of Silence Festival in The Hague in October of the same year.
